The Royal Mint has just authorised for release a BRAND NEW UK Gold Proof 50p featuring the beloved children’s book character Winnie the Pooh, created by A.A. This is the first time that Winnie the Pooh features on a UK coin, and it is the first coin in a classic 9. This 50p coin was issued in 2020 as part of a 9-coin series, over 3 years, to celebrate the nation’s favourite ‘silly old bear’, Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh 2020 UK 50p Brilliant Uncirculated Coin. Winnie the Pooh is the much-loved, ‘silly old bear’ who has won over the hearts of generations of readers. Now, Pooh Bear is starring on a coin struck by The Royal Mint for the first time, and he’ll soon be joined. Winnie the Pooh will be the first coin to be released in a three-piece set, also featuring Christopher Robin and Piglet 50p coins. The coins will be released to mark the 100th birthday of the.
The charming illustrations of E.H. Shepard quickly became an integral part of Winnie the Pooh's world, and coin collectors can now own little recreations of this artwork on 50p coins issues by The Royal Mint.

Three coins are currently available from The Royal Mint, with six more coins to follow over the next two years.
All of the coins are issued in uncirculated format, that means it's not very likely you will find one in your loose change; the coins have not been entered into general circulation.

Since the coins have not been put into circulation, the value is fairly straightforward, they are worth the retail price (as shown in the details above). If you do find one in your change you should count yourself lucky and put it aside, as the 50p coins are not intended to be used.

What exciting news we’ve received just before Christmas – the next three coins in the Winnie the Pooh 50p series have been confirmed!
As of the Royal Proclamation on 18th December 2021, it has been announced that three more friends from Hundred Acre Wood will be joining Winnie the Pooh on the nation’s best-loved coin.
The Royal Mint have confirmed that the upcoming coins will feature:
- Winnie the Pooh and friends
- Tigger
- Owl
Whilst the designs of these coins remain top secret, we’re sure they’re going to be just as adorable as the 2020 Winnie the Pooh 50ps. We can’t wait to see them!
